1. Which is the best season to plan a trip to Tadoba?

The best season to plan a trip to Tadoba is winter, where you can spot native and migratory birds along with the national animal. Apart from this, you can also plan a trip in the summer season as it offers an excellent chance of tiger sighting.

2. Which safari should I choose at Tadoba?

Both morning and evening safaris offer an excellent opportunity for tourists to spot the elusive wildlife at Tadoba, as the wild animals often go prowling at both dawn and dusk.

3. Which is the best safari zone at Tadoba?

For tiger sighting, every zone is best core or buffer but Moharli is considered the best zone at Tadoba. The Tadoba core zone offers a perfect blend of beautiful landscapes and diverse wildlife. The best gates for entry to Tadoba reserve include Moharli, Kolara, Navegaon, Pangdi, Zari, and Khutwanda. However, since these gates are located far away from each other, you are advised to book the nearest gate to your place of stay.

4. Are kids allowed for safari at Tadoba?

Recently, kids below 10 years of age have been allowed to undertake safari at the Tadoba tiger reserve if they are accompanied by their family members. Currently, six members of a family can undertake a jeep safari at Tadoba.

5. How should I book a safari at Tadoba?

Normal safari booking starts at 8 A.M. 120 days before the entry date and closes at 5 P.M. four days before the entry date. Tatkal booking is available at 8 A.M. three days before the entry date and closes at 5 P.M. two days before the entry date. The buffer zones offer only a normal quota for safari booking, which closes at 5 P.M. one day before entry.

7. How much does safari at Tadoba cost?

The safari rates depend on whether you are planning to visit the reserve on a weekday or a weekend, whether you are undertaking it in the core zone or the buffer zone, and whether you made your booking in advance or not. Tickets booked 60-120 days in advance for a safari in the core zone cost INR 9500 on weekdays and INR 13,000 on weekends. If booked 4-59 days in advance, the same tickets cost INR 55,00, respectively. However, if you book your safari tickets in the Tatkal quota, you are required to pay INR 9500 for them, irrespective of the day of the week.

8. Do foreign nationals have to pay extra for safari at Tadoba?

No, there are no additional charges for foreign nationals. They are charged the same amount for the safari as Indians.

9. What documents do I need to carry for the safari?

You need to carry the ID proof you submitted while booking your safari online. For Indian nationals, the ID proof includes Aadhar card, PAN card, voter ID card, driving license, passport, photo ID card issued by the state or central government, student identity card issued by the school, college, or university. For foreign nationals, their passport is the only accepted identity proof.

10. How can I reach Tadoba tiger reserve?

You can reach Tadoba by air (the nearest airport is in Nagpur), train (the nearest railway station is Chandrapur), or road (the nearest bus stand is at Chandrapur and Chimur). Public (state transport buses) and private transport (taxis and cabs) are available to help you reach your destination from the airport, railway station, or bus stand.

11. What safety precautions are currently being followed at Tadoba?
  • Only four tourists are allowed in a jeep safari; however, six members can be accommodated if it is a family.
  • The body temperature of tourists is checked before entering the gates of the reserve.
  • No entry is allowed without a mask. Therefore, tourists need to bring their own masks and sanitizers while taking the safari at Tadoba.
  • The vehicle is disinfected before every safari.
  • Maintaining social distancing is essential, especially at the entry gates.
  • People at high risk, such as pregnant women, small children, adults above 65 years, and sick people, cannot enter the reserve.
